Hear your contest part before you play it

Solo & Ensemble is weeks away and your part has no recording. Photograph it: ScoreLens reads it and plays it back on your instrument's sound, at the pitch it sounds. Slow it down, loop the hard run, then play along.

How it works

  1. Photograph the pageFlat, in even light, the whole page in frame. Or pick a photo or a PDF you already have.
  2. Check what it readThe page opens as notation you can check against your photo. Tap a wrong note to fix it.
  3. Play itSlow it down, loop a few bars, or hear it in another key.

Practice it like this

  • Listen once at full tempo to hear the shape
  • Loop the hardest two bars at 60 % until they are clean, then step the tempo up
  • Check entrances and rests against the cursor

What it reads

  • Printed solo and ensemble parts with one line on a staff
  • Parts for B♭, E♭ and F instruments, played at the pitch they sound
  • Pages with several single-line staves: play yours alone or leave it out

What it doesn't

  • Two voices on one staff, as in hymnals and SATB scores
  • Handwritten music
  • Guitar tablature

Questions

Can I use it to learn my Solo & Ensemble piece?

Yes. Photograph your printed part and ScoreLens plays it back with a cursor on the notes. Start slow, loop the passage you keep missing, and bring the tempo up a step at a time.

My part is for B♭ clarinet, E♭ alto sax or F horn. Will it sound at the right pitch?

Yes. Choose your instrument and it plays the pitch that actually sounds, the same as your accompanist or ensemble hears it.

We are a trio or quartet. Can each of us hear our own part?

Yes. Each player photographs their own part on their own phone. If the score has every part on its own single-line staff, you can also hear one part alone, louder than the others, or leave yours out and play against the rest.

Does it read the piano accompaniment?

It reads one line per staff, so a solo line, yes. A piano accompaniment with chords and two voices on a staff is not what it is built for.

Can I use it for a purchased or contest-list piece?

Photograph your own copy for your own practice. Please don't share photos of copyrighted music with others.

Is it free?

It's free to try, with full playback, tempo and key. Pro unlocks unlimited pages: $39.99 a year with a 14-day free trial, or $89.99 once.
