Questions
I haven't played in 20 years. Can it help me read rhythms again?
It lets you hear them. Slow the part down and watch the cursor: you see which note sounds when, then play it yourself. It doesn't teach rhythm, so your director or a teacher is still the best help.
My part is for B-flat clarinet. Will it sound at the right pitch?
Yes. Tell ScoreLens the part is for B♭ clarinet and it plays the pitch that actually sounds, the same as the band. B♭ trumpet, E♭ alto sax and F horn work the same way.
Will it read the photocopies our director hands out?
Clear printed copies, yes: lay the page flat, in even light. It reads one line on a staff. It can still misread a note, so check it against your page before you learn from it.
Can it play the full score or the piano part?
It reads your part best, one line on a staff, not the conductor's score and not handwritten music. Piano works too: beginner and intermediate pieces read best.
Is it free?
It's free to try, with full playback, tempo and key. Pro unlocks unlimited pages: $39.99 a year with a 14-day free trial, or $89.99 once.
